Dear Fleming Countians,
With deep sadness, Fleming County Schools will not be in session for students on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, as we mourn the loss of our SMS student, Lindsey Marshall. This day will be observed as a staff workday to provide space for our faculty, staff, students, and families to attend her funeral and grieve together as a community.
We recognize that moments like this remind us of the importance of compassion, unity, and support for one another. We hope that this time will allow all of us to honor Lindsey’s life and stand beside her family, friends, and loved ones.
To ensure instructional time is preserved, students will make up the missed day on Tuesday, November 4th, which was previously scheduled as a staff workday.
We thank you for your understanding and continued prayers for the Marshall family and our entire school community.

The Measures of Quality stands as a pioneering and next-generation accountability system that commences by attentively listening to and empowering the voices of students, teachers, staff, parents/guardians, and the community at the local level. This approach to accountability enables stakeholders to cultivate a profound comprehension of students' most significant achievements, readiness milestones, and concerns, while also presenting a more comprehensive portrait of Fleming County Schools' overall achievements throughout the school district.
